Lucille & Chris
October 2014

Lucille & Chris got married in the Michaelhouse Chapel in the Natal Midlands, where they had a High Tea mid-morning, followed by a formal dinner that night at St. Andrew’s Retreat. I think the photos speak for themselves…

Lucille & Chris – what fun memories I will always have of being part of your wedding. Everything was AMAZING – the venue,  the detail in the décor, the flower-girl’s dresses, and luckily, the weather…..not to mention the two of you!! Congratulations to you both.

With special love,

Melissa & Ross
September 2014

Melissa & Ross got married at The Nutcracker Wedding Venue. What a wonderfully relaxed couple. More than anything, they wanted to have fun with their family and friends, celebrating their love for each other. It was fabulous to see the care and attention to ensure that every person attending would have their needs met and would be comfortable. Your attention to detail was phenomenal.

Melissa’s brief was very much country-style flowers that would not detract from the beauty of the wedding venue. So, being Spring, we brought a lot of the natural beauty from the outside, in. Hence the use of blossoms wherever possible.

Melissa & Ross – it was awesome to be part of our wedding day and I wish you both much love for the future.

Jennifer & Wilfred
September 2014

Jennifer & Wilfred got married on a beautiful sunny afternoon in September at The Nutcracker Wedding Venue. From the time I met Jennifer at a coffee shop in Parys, I knew that here was a lady who knew exactly what she wanted which made my execution thereof very easy. It was awesome to see how all her hard work and planning paid off and how their wedding mirrored their style – very elegant with clean lines.

Jennifer & Wilfred – wishing you both true happiness in your marriage. May the love you have for each other grow from strength to strength,

Kelly & Johan – April 2014

April saw me back at The Nutcracker Wedding Venue – this time to make Kelly and Johan’s dream of a South African wedding come true! Kelly had brought out various silver tea and coffeepots from the UK and we used these as the central theme for her flower arrangements. Thanks to the tireless planning of Mum, Jenny, this wedding was a huge success!

Kelly and Johan – it was a privilege meeting you both! May the love that you have for one another blossom as you embark on the next chapter of your lives together.
With love

Lindi & Coenraad – December 2013

Lindi and Coenraad chose to get married at The Nutracker and wanted a soft, feminine, sophisticated yet ‘country-style’ ambiance to their wedding. This was achieved through the use of the stunning silver-ware at various heights and through the choice of flowers.

Lindi en Coenraad – dit was n voorreg om julle blomme te doen! Ek wens vir julle net voorspoed toe in julle huwelik!

Wedding at The Nutcracker Country Retreat

I was asked to provide sophisticated country-style flowers to compliment this charming venue. The flowers were to be soft with a romantic, rustic feel. This is what we did;

  • The bride’s choice of flowers was orchids for sophistication which we used in combination with delphiniums and alstoemeria ( old-fashioned, yet romantic-style flowers)
  • The use of glass vases which allowed the flowers to hold their own in terms of beauty
  • Wrapping some of the vases with antique lace and rustic twine
  • Being generous with the arrangements and adding different heights on the tables to compliment the high ceilings of the venue
  • Using candelabras for additional height and softening them with moss to add a romantic, vintage look
  • Corsages were made with a single white rose and wrapped in hessian – again to marry the two themes
